The International Association of German Culture (IAGC) is a large non-governmental organization of Russian Germans that has initiated and sponsored over 200 major nationwide and international projects of social importance in the fields of art, science, and education starting from 1991.
We paid a visit to the Grand Catherine’s Ball at the invitation of Olga Mertens, Deputy Chairman of the International Association of German Culture and Director of the Grand Catherine’s Ball. The Grand Catherine’s Ball is a major cultural and educational event devoted to the traditions of Catherine the Great’s era.
Over 500 persons take part in the Ball program every year and the number of guests at the Festival of Ball traditions constituting an integral part of the Ball exceeds 20,000.
We thank the organizers and Ms. Olga Mertens in person for the invitation to visit the ball and for a fascinating recreation of Catherine the Great’s era.
