Mr. Erich Rath
Attorney-Partner

At the beginning of the new year, we would like to inform you that FAS 27/2021 on the storage of accounting data on Russian servers will begin to apply from 01/01/2024.

In accordance with paragraph 25 of the Federal Accounting Standard FAS 27/2021 “Documents and document flow in accounting”, approved by order of the Ministry of Finance of Russia dated April 16, 2021 No. 62n, an economic entity must store accounting documents, as well as data contained in such documents, and place the databases of the specified data on the territory of the Russian Federation. In accordance with this order of the Ministry of Finance of Russia, the standard comes into force on January 1, 2022.

However, in order to ensure the conditions for organizing the proper storage of accounting documents on the territory of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Finance of Russia adopted Order No. 224n dated December 23, 2021, by which the entry into force of the first paragraph of paragraph 25 of FAS 27/2021 was postponed from January 1, 2022. as of January 1, 2024. In other words, the FAS norm 27/2021 is subject to mandatory application from January 1, 2024.

Order of the Ministry of Finance of Russia dated December 23, 2021 No. 224n does not amend the federal standard itself, does not cancel or change the requirement to store accounting documents in the Russian Federation. Organizations have the right to make an independent decision on compliance with this requirement until 01/01/2024.
