From September 1, 2025, new rules on night work pay come into effect, regulated by Government Decree No. 436 of 04.04.2025. The document is valid until September 1, 2031 and repeals the previous Decree No. 554 of 22.07.2008.
Main changes
The key change is the introduction of a minimum premium for each hour of night work (from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.). The minimum amount is 20% of the employee’s hourly wage rate or salary.
Employers are entitled to set a higher premium for night shifts.
What needs to be done
Similar to the rules on business trips, employers must update their internal regulations — replacing old references to Decree No. 554 with references to the new Decree No. 436.
